Ideal Catering Solution PTY LTD are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at a mining accommodation camp. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for camp residents, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, following set menus and dietary requirements.
- In charge of preparing and cooking "Cook-To-Order Meals," including:
- Grilled Steak - Grilled Chicken - Hamburgers - Grilled Fish - Assist Chefs in preparing main dishes for dinner service (Bulk cooking).
- Prepare different types of root vegetables such as potatoes, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots for roasting, baking, or steaming, including cutting, peeling, and seasoning.
- Help in preparing desserts (e.g., pudding, cakes, custards, jellies).
- Preparation and cooking for breakfast service (Bulk cooking).
- Deli & cold meat slicing using a machine.
- Serve food during breakfast and dinner service (Bain Marie/Buffet style).
- Dishwashing.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, pantry, and walk-in cool rooms and freezers, including cleaning, sanitation, and organization.
- Receiving of bulk deliveries.
- Regular monitoring of temperatures (Paperwork) for:
- Freezer - Cool rooms - Fridges - Sandwich and Salad Bars - Bain Marie - Ensure all meals are prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency.
- Accommodate special dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies related to food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure efficient service.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Camp Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:- At least one-year full-time proven experience as a cook, preferably in a mining camp, remote site, or similar environment.
- Formal culinary training or relevant certification are required - Certificate IV in Cookery.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP certification preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work on a roster-based schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects when required.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Willing to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
