Westholm Farming Pty Ltd are currently seeking an experienced Horticulture Grower to join their team in Severnlea (South of Stanthorpe) in a full time position.
Applicants must have a Relevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications or equivalent OR Three (3) years of employment experience as a Horticulture Grower with relevant formal training OR Five (5) years of employment experience as a Horticulture Grower with no formal training.
Duties and responsibilities include:- Plan and manage the full crop production cycle and marketing, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, turf, and flowers - from soil preparation to harvest - considering environmental and market factors
- Select and plant seeds, seedlings, and bulbs, and graft new plant varieties
- Promote healthy plant growth through cultivation, pruning, and maintaining optimal growing conditions
- Oversee harvesting, storage, sorting, packaging, and the coordination of sales and dispatch
- Supervise pest control, fertilisation, and other farming tasks
- Maintain farm infrastructure including equipment, fences, irrigation, and storage facilities
- Keep detailed records of farming activities, monitor market trends, and plan production to meet demand
- Manage financial aspects such as budgeting, loans, and tax obligations
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and contractors
- Develop strategies to manage climate-related risks
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards
A salary of $77,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
