We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team based in Moura, located in the Banana Shire region. This is a FIFO or DIDO role operating on a 2-weeks-on, 1-week-off roster. Travel, accommodation and meals are provided.
As a Water Treatment Plant Operator, you will play a key role in the daily operations and maintenance of our client's water treatment facilities. You'll ensure the plant, pump stations, reservoirs, and other associated infrastructure are operating safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include routine and proactive-reactive maintenance, monitoring water quality, and reporting.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:- Safety and training - Work, and make sure others work, according to safe work procedures and undertake necessary training to ensure regulatory compliance is met and zero harm is achieved.
- Operate monitor and Report - Undertake activities as directed to ensure effective daily and afterhours operation and monitoring of treatment facilities, including regular reporting. Carry out manual works as required.
- Water and effluent quality - Undertake activities as directed to operate council's water treatment plants to ensure compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and DES Environmental Authority conditions.
- Continuity of service - Follow work procedures to ensure continuity of service of pump stations, reservoirs and treatment plants to achieve level of service and compliance.
- Planned Maintenance - Undertake planned maintenance schedules with the aim to reduce responsive maintenance and unplanned breakdowns.
- Responsive Maintenance - Undertake unplanned breakdown maintenance to ensure legislative requirements are met and support the procurement team with technical procurement activities.
- On-call / after-hours -. Be available for emergency response duties if required Participate in an on-call roster system as required to undertake after-hours operational tasks and reactive activities.
- Day-to-Day requirements - Operating the water treatment plant and associated equipment and infrastructure in accordance with our contractual obligations.
- Reporting - The role reports the Qld Operations Supervisor; you will be required to assist other team members in delivery of customer services at your responsible site. Respond in an effective & efficient manner to all client requests & inquiries.
Key Requirements:- Certificate III in Water / Wastewater Treatment Operations (or willingness to obtain)
- 5+ years relevant experience
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Queensland C Class provisional manual driver's licence
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (highly regarded but not essential)
- First Aid and CPR Certificate (highly regarded but not essential)
- Experience with DAF, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Screw Press systems, and prefiltration equipment is desirable but not essential
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- The ability to work independently and safely while following OHS policies
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures for both remote sites and office-based environments
- Self-motivation, excellent organisation, and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
