We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Chemist to join our team working at Millmerran Power Station. This is a hands-on role ideal for a recent graduate with a background in chemistry, who is looking to apply their technical knowledge in a practical, operational environment.
Applicants should reside in or near Toowoomba or Dalby, as the role is based at Millmerran Power Station, with potential work at other sites depending on business needs. You'll report directly to the Site Supervisor and provide essential support in technical, environmental, and water chemistry operations to help maintain optimal performance of the power station.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine daily and weekly chemical analysis for the Power Station Water Treatment Plant and Units
- Operation & Maintenance of Clients Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants including Plant services, membrane replacements & cleans and plant operational analysis
- Participate in, and comply with, all Millmerran Operating Company's procedures, operating instructions, and risk assessments to ensure all KPIs are met
- Analysis of samples, produce reports, identify out of limits operating conditions and provide solution to rectify the problems.
- Operate analytical instrumentation to provide accurate low-level data for the water chemistry for the Power Station.
- Assist in the rectification of water treatment plant issues.
- Assist with the transfer of bulk chemicals in a safe manner.
- Provide your clients with sound technical advice and become a trusted advisor.
- Ensure all activity are conducted in an efficient matter to ensure compliant in accordance with our Quality & Safety Management systems.
- Ensure all plant is functioning correctly and report any faults to the appropriate personnel.
- Support the wider Australian business as required
- Maintain bulk chemical stocks, and order in a timely manner as required.
- To competently perform the duties listed above and to represent the Company in a professional manner.
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet either of the following:- A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or a closely related field), OR
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant industry experience in a similar role.
Key Skills & Attributes:- Strong knowledge of water chemistry analysis and laboratory techniques
- Understanding of power station chemistry and water treatment processes (advantageous but not essential)
- Proven problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude
- Confident written and verbal communicator
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a safe and responsible manner
- Sound understanding of health and safety protocols
- Well-organized with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
This role would suit either an experienced industry professional or a recent graduate who is ready to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting.
