    Position Overview:

    We are excited to announce an opening for a Residential Care Officer who will work at Truesupport Disability Care Pty Ltd. As a Resident Care Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses, ensuring participants receive high-quality, person-centered care. This role combines hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, contributing to a safe, empowering, and well-managed home environment.

    You will play a key role in fostering a safe, empowering, and inclusive environment for participants - many of whom live with complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, PTSD, and dementia

    Tasks & responsibilities

    Participant Support & Wellbeing:
    • Provide high-quality, individualized care and supervision to participants with disabilities
    • Assess participant needs and assist in planning and accessing appropriate health, welfare, and community supports
    • Monitor and document changes in participants' physical and mental health, and report concerns promptly
    • Conduct interviews and assessments to evaluate participants' well-being and understand their specific challenges
    • Collaborate with families and allied health professionals to develop and implement tailored care plans
    • Support families by providing education, guidance, and emotional support
    • Foster connections with welfare agencies, community organizations, and service providers to enhance access to supports
    • Refer participants to external agencies when additional help is needed.
    Staff Management & Leadership:
    • Work Monday to Friday across day, afternoon, or night shifts depending on roster needs
    • Create and manage weekly rosters to ensure adequate staffing and continuity of care
    • Supervise and support house staff, including onboarding, induction, and ongoing training
    • Guide support workers on the welfare needs of participants and ensure best practices are followed
    • Participate in staff development reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
    • Assist the Operations Manager in recruiting and selecting the right support staff for the SIL team
    • Lead monthly team meetings using Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint to communicate updates, review participant progress, and align staff on goals.
    • Provide clear, professional communication across all channels to ensure smooth coordination between staff, families, and external stakeholder
    Operations & Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate records of medical and allied health appointments, ensuring none are missed
    • Ensure the home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety at all times
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures
    • Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager regarding participant health, activities, and appointments
    • Monitor and report on participant progress toward NDIS goals
    • Abide by all organizational policies, procedures, and NDIS Practice Standards
    • Participate in relevant training and development courses to maintain professional knowledge
    Qualifications and Experience:
    • Diploma or higher in the relevant field.
    • One year of relevant experience.
    • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, PTSD, and dementia
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
    • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
    • Valid Australian driver's licence and reliable transport
    • Experience in SIL or residential disability care settings
    • Familiarity with rostering systems and staff supervision
    • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module

    • Strong communication skills.
    • Proactive and passionate about supporting people with disability

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
    • Understanding of person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care
    Benefits & Remuneration:
    • Salary commensurate with experience. $77,000 - $80,000 plus guaranteed superannuation.
