  • Our client is looking for a full-time Welder (First Class) to join their team in Dalby, Queensland.

    This role offers you the opportunity to play a vital role in the manufacturing process offering a varied and rewarding role.

    To be considered for this position, you will need to hold a relevant qualification at the level of Certificate 3 in Engineering: Fabrication Trade (or equivalent). Additionally, the candidate is required to have at least 3+ years of relevant experience.

    This role involves the following tasks:
    • Fabricate all metal components of machinery using jigs or free hand;
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings and translate for fabrication;
    • Weld metal components, including selecting the correct welding method and type, examine weld quality, and cleaning and smoothing finished weld;
    • Prepare, shape, bend, fold, cut, form and drill materials using hand tools, electric tool and machine tools and heating;
    • Select and prepare metal stock according to fabrication requirements;
    • Laying out components prior to welding, tacking components together and fully welding components as required;
    • Check weldments and assembly for dimensional accuracy and conformance to engineering drawing and instructions;
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including maintenance and care of tools and workspace.
    You will also need to have experience with the following:
    • Interpret and work from engineering drawings understanding dimensioning, marking and welding symbols;
    • Weld mild and stainless-steel components using MIG and MMA (stick) welding equipment;
    • Establishing correct fabrication and welding procedures, informed by engineering drawing and your knowledge of these techniques effect on the material of the procedure;
    • Safely and accurately use various electric and manual hand tools and machine tools;
    • Competent and accurate use of measuring equipment and devices;
    • Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering;
    • Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
    • Examine weld for quality, integrity and compliance including width of bead, penetration and precision;
    • Clean and smooth weld by filing, chiselling and grinding.
    The successful applicant will be offered a starting salary of at least $76,600 which includes guaranteed overtime at overtime rates. Your starting hourly rate is dependent on your skill and previous experience, with regular reviews, plus superannuation.
