Nonning Pastoral is a family owned Pastoral enterprise established in 1900 and based at Nonning Station in the Gawler Ranges SA and Kilmory in S/E SA.
Nonning White Dorper Stud is a foundation stud (No 23) and was established 1998 and is specifically aimed at producing productive low maintenance White Dorpers to suit pastoral conditions. Only sheep that are good shedders and structurally sound and in particular with good feet are retained, horns other than small scurs are not tolerated.
Nonning and Uno stations are Certified Organic lamb producing properties and Kilmory is a mixed farming property and the home of the Nonning White Dorper stud.
They require an Agri Technician to join their team in Woolumbool, SA.
About The Role
The Agri Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for the cropping and livestock activities, and will be required to work closely with the Farm Manager and Agronomists to achieve optimal farming outcomes.
Duties include:- Sheep Health
- Monitoring the health and welfare of sheep, identifying and treating illnesses and injuries, administering vaccinations, monitoring nutritional needs, and implementing preventative measures to keep the flock healthy. - Animal Husbandry:
- Assisting with the management of breeding programs, including artificial insemination, monitoring breeding cycles, and administering of veterinary medicine as required, and assisting with the calving or birthing process. - Crop Maintenance:
- Providing technical support in relation to preparing soil, monitoring soil quality including applying fertilizers and pesticides as required, monitoring irrigation and nutrient levels. - Pest and Disease Control:
- Identifying pests, diseases, and weeds that can harm crops and livestock, and implementing control measures including maintaining accurate records of chemicals and veterinary drugs administered. To be considered you will need a level of skill commensurate with a relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma and at least 1 year of full-time related employment; OR at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications.
This is a full time position, an immediate start is available. A remuneration package of $80,000 - $95,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate.
