Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team at Khao Piyo, where we serve authentic Indian vegetarian and vegan meals. As a Chef at the Khao Piyo, you will play a vital role in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring the preparation of high-quality Indian vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Chef at our restaurant leads all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu creation to team leadership, accurate management, stock holding, maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards, ensuring top-tier quality, consistency, and innovation.
Tasks & responsibilities:- Planning menus, incorporating Indian vegetarian cuisine, ensuring the authenticity.
- Estimating food and labour costs.
- Creating new and original recipes that reflect the Indian vegetarian cuisine's style and to meet quality standards.
- Preparing and cooking high-quality food according to menu guidelines, recipes, and presentation standards.
- Monitoring and cooking a variety of Indian vegetarian dishes using different cooking methods.
- Examining food to ensure quality, taste, and presentation meet the restaurant's expectations.
- Undertaking daily preparation of all ingredients, ensuring quality control and proper rotation.
- Ensuring stock is rotated, checked, and stored correctly to minimise waste and maintain freshness.
- Discussing food preparation issues with management, kitchen, and waiting staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicating effectively with management and other staff members to coordinate kitchen activities.
- Collaborating with management to introduce new Indian vegetarian dishes in the menu
- Ordering food ingredients, undertaking clean-ups, and performing all other duties as required.
- Training kitchen staff, including apprentices and trainees, to maintain high culinary standards.
- Maintaining occupational health and safety procedures in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Continuously practising and promoting safety and hygiene in the workplace.
Qualifications and Experience:- Diploma or higher in the relevant field.
- Three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- One year of relevant experience.
Skills:- Monitor food levels, minimize waste, and maintain freshness
- Adhere to sanitation and food safety regulations for a clean and organized kitchen
- Ability to work alone and as a team.
- Deep knowledge of Indian cuisine and spices
- Team leadership skills and self-motivation
Benefits & Remuneration:- Salary commensurate with experience. $77,000 - $80,000 plus guaranteed superannuation.
