    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team at Thali Dhaba, where we serve authentic Indian and Pakistani style Thali meals. As a Chef at the Thali Dhaba, you will play a vital role in planning and organising the preparation and cooking of food, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our customers. Chef at our restaurant leads all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu creation to team leadership, accurate management, stock holding, ensuring top-tier quality, consistency, and innovation.

    Tasks & responsibilities:
    • Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs.
    • Create new and original recipes that reflect the Thali Dhaba's style and meet quality standards.
    • Prepare and cooking high quality food according to menu guidelines, recipes and presentation.
    • Monitoring and cooking a variety of dishes using different cooking methods.
    • Examine food to ensure quality and presentation.
    • Daily preparation of all ingredients, quality control and rotation.
    • Ensuring stock is rotated, checked and stored correctly.
    • Discussing food preparation issues with management, kitchen and waiting staff.
    • Effective communication with management and other staff members.
    • Ordering of food ingredients, undertake clean-ups and all other duties as required.
    • Training of kitchen staff including any apprentices and trainees.
    • Maintaining occupational health and safety procedures.
    • Continuous practice of safety and hygiene in the workplace.
    Qualifications and Experience:
    • Diploma or higher
      Three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
    • One year of relevant experience.
    Skills:
    • Monitor food levels, minimise waste, and maintain freshness
    • Adhere to sanitation and food safety regulations for a clean and organised kitchen
    • Ability to work alone and as a team
    • Team leadership skills and self-motivation
    Benefits & Remuneration:
    • Salary commensurate with experience. $77,000 - $79,000 plus guaranteed superannuation.
