  • Forster Foundation for Drug Rehabilitation t/a Banyan House is currently seeking a Therapeutic Community Support Worker to join their team in a full time role, in Berrimah, NT.

    The Support Worker is a member of the team contributing to the delivery of Banyan House's residential rehabilitation program and other therapeutic services within the context of the therapeutic community.

    The Support Worker reports to the Program Manager and Operations Manager and works closely with other staff and residents, supporting staff in group activities, challenging individual and group behaviours and sharing social time such as meals.

    Attention to detail and a commitment to meeting Quality Management Systems, AOD and Banyan House practice standards, protocols, record keeping, and staff code of conduct is essential.

    This position involves shift work and sleep over shifts.

    Main tasks:
    • Supervise and observe resident's behaviour and interactions and document as required.
    • Assist in the routine and the overall management of residents and the therapeutic community according to Banyan House policies, procedures and philosophies.
    • At all times maintain the safety of the environment, adhering to WH&S protocols.
    • In accordance with AOD standards and Banyan House procedures, accurately produce and maintain various records and reports
    • At all times act as a positive role model to residents and abide by House Rules
    • Take personal responsibility for your professional development
    • Maintain and hold appropriate professional boundaries.
    • Communicate with staff members and on-call staff, any issues that relate to risk or operational functioning of the TC
    • Complete thorough handover and medication safe checks at start and end of shift with incoming/outgoing staff
    • Other duties as directed by the Executive Team
    Applicants must have:
    • A relevant diploma and 1+ year of relevant work experience
    • Current unrestricted NT Driver's licence
    • Police clearance
    • Ochre card (Working with Children)
    • First Aid
    • Cert 4 in AOD (Completed, studying or prepared to study)
    • Must have an unrestricted VISA to work in Australia.
    • Client service orientation
    • Demonstrated understanding of the Therapeutic Community model and methods.
    • A demonstrated ability to work autonomously or in a team setting.
    A salary of $70,000 - $80,000 plus super will be offered to the successful applicant.
