InStyle Ceramics WA is seeking a qualified and experienced Interior Designer to join our established Design Studio and Tile Showroom in Myaree.
This is a full-time professional design position within a commercial showroom environment. The role focuses on architectural plan review, tile layout development, material specification and technical design consultation for residential and commercial construction projects across Western Australia.
InStyle Ceramics WA works alongside homeowners, builders, architects and interior designers to support the selection and specification of tiles and interior finishes. As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our Interior Design services in 2026 to include renovation-focused design consultation.
Key Responsibilities
The Interior Designer will:- Consult with clients and stakeholders to determine project objectives, spatial requirements and design constraints
- Review and interpret architectural drawings and floor plans
- Develop tile layout strategies appropriate to each project
- Determine tile set-out direction and optimise layouts to minimise cuts and ensure visual balance
- Select and specify interior finishes in accordance with Australian Standards
- Advise on slip resistance classifications and wet area compliance requirements
- Recommend grout colours and coordinate finish selections to achieve cohesive design outcomes
- Prepare material schedules and costed specifications based on selected finishes
- Provide technical advice regarding product suitability and installation considerations
- Liaise with builders and suppliers regarding product application and technical information
- Maintain professional client relationships within a commercial showroom environment
Approximately 80% of the role involves plan analysis, layout development, material specification and structured quoting based on design selections. The remaining component involves general showroom support and initial client enquiries.
Essential Requirements:- Relevant tertiary qualification with 1 years relevant experience (or 3 years relevant experience may substitute formal qualification)
- Demonstrated experience reviewing architectural drawings and preparing material schedules
- Strong understanding of interior finishes and compliance standards
- Ability to exercise independent professional judgement in layout and finish selection
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a professional design environment
