  • We are seeking a skilled and motivated Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join Pittsworth Fleet Maintenance Pty Ltd. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality work on a range of heavy diesel vehicles and machinery, with a passion for maintaining powerful engines and a willingness to learn new technologies.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Your role will include, but is not limited to:
    • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles and trailers
    • Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults using appropriate diagnostic tools
    • Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems
    • Conduct safety inspections and ensure vehicles meet roadworthy and compliance standards
    • Complete job cards, service records, and maintenance documentation accurately
    • Assist with breakdown response and urgent repairs as required
    • Maintain workshop cleanliness and ensure tools and equipment are used safely and correctly
    • Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
    • Work collaboratively with other workshop staff and supervisors
    Applicants must have a relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least three years of full time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification. 

    Further Key Requirements:
    • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability on heavy vehicles (engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension, steering).
    • Competent servicing and repairs on prime movers, trailers (as applicable).
    • Ability to interpret job cards, manuals, basic schematics, and follow manufacturer procedures.
    • Sound understanding of preventative maintenance and inspection standards.
    • Able to safely an competently use workshop tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, jacks/stands, press, grinders, etc.).
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team; communicates clearly with supervisors and peers.
    • Strong safety mindset (WHS), good housekeeping, and attention to quality.
    • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time to meet deadlines.
    • Experience with trailers: air systems, ABS/EBS, suspensions, hub bearings, coupling gear.
    • Experience using diagnostic software / scan tools and electronic fault diagnosis.
    • Experience completing detailed service reports, compliance checklists, and maintenance records.
    • Welding/fabrication exposure (helpful in truck workshops, but not essential).
    A salary between $76,515 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
