  • JAE is a mechanical engineering business that specialises in the manufacturing and refurbishment of coal mining machines and equipment, in accordance with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) specifications and government legislations.

    JAE is searching for Pressure Welders to join their team in Parkhurst, QLD.

    The role of the Pressure Welders fits fabricated metal parts and assembles metal parts to produce mining machines and equipment to relevant standards.

    These tasks include:
    • Adjusts controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage or amperage.
    • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
    • Assist in the management of harmonious environment, team building and training of apprentices as required.
    • Boiler component inspection for defects using precision measuring instruments.
    • Cleaning and preparing metal surfaces for pressure welding by flame cutting, gouging, bevelling, grinding or filing.
    • Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements and that documentation is completed on time.
    • Ensure that work is performed as per Job Procedure and Scope of Works.
    • Fabricating parts from engineering drawings and interpreting the dimensions.
    • Fits attachments, connect hoses to gas tanks, or wires to power sources of equipment used in pressure welding operations.
    • Guides torches or electrodes along lines of weld manually or by operating machine controls.
    • High level of safety orientation, adhering to OHS policies.
    • Open valves or switches and lights torches, strikes arcs or starts machines.
    • Perform handling of other equipment such as drilling and spot welding, tig-welding and cut off machines.
    • Preheats thick materials to required temperatures.
    • Prepares materials needed in the assembly of pressure equipment like tanks and pipes etc.
    • Responsible for set-up, preparation, joining and full welding of steel equipment exposed to pressure.
    • Study fabrication drawings or specifications to determine appropriate pressure welding processes and other job requirements.
    To be considered you will need a relevant trade certificate with two years minimum relevant employment experience or at least three years of relevant employment experience to substitute for the formal qualification.

    This is a full time role, an immediate start is available. A remuneration package of $85,000 - $100,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate.
