Position Overview:
Laveer Maritime is seeking an experienced Marine Pilot / Loading Master to join our expanding network of marine professionals supporting pilotage and specialised marine operations at Cockatoo Island and Yampi Sound in Western Australia.
This role is a specialised opportunity and applications will primarily suit experienced marine pilots or Masters with relevant bulk cargo loading / terminal operations experience.
Tasks & responsibilities:- Conduct pilotage operations in accordance with applicable port procedures and the Laveer Integrated Management System.
- Safely navigate vessels taking into account environmental conditions, vessel characteristics and port requirements.
- Maintain clear communication with vessel Masters, tug operators, terminal personnel and port authorities to ensure safe and efficient vessel movements.
- Prepare and execute pilotage plans in accordance with local regulations, navigation aids and operational constraints.
- Undertake Loading Master / ship-shore liaison duties during cargo operations, including coordination between vessel and terminal.
- Support safe bulk cargo transfer operations and provide instruction to relevant service providers where required.
- Maintain accurate records of pilotage and cargo operations, including reporting of incidents, hazards and operational observations.
- Participate in safety, quality and environmental initiatives and maintain compliance with company and client procedures.
- Participate in emergency response procedures as required during vessel or terminal operations.
Qualifications and Experience:- Minimum Master Class 1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency required
- Valid and current Marine Pilot License for Cockatoo Island terminal and Yampi Sound
- At least ten (10) years of experience as Ship's Officer/Ship Master/Pilot or other relevant Maritime experience
Skills & Attributes:- Excellent navigational skills and in-depth knowledge of local waterways and ports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, vessel crews and port authorities.
- A commitment to safety, environmental protection, and compliance with maritime regulations.
- Ability to work independently and make quick, well-informed decisions under pressure.
