  • We are looking for a skilled and motivated Fitter and Turner to join our team at Oz Seals Pty Ltd. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to producing precise and high-quality mechanical work. This role involves working on a variety of machinery and equipment, ensuring all components are accurately fabricated, assembled, and maintained to meet exacting standards.

    Your role will include, but is not limited to:
    • Operate manual lathes and other workshop machinery to fabricate, shape, and assemble metal components and subassemblies.
    • Turn, machine, grind, and fit components to precise specifications and tight tolerances.
    • Study and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and job instructions to determine suitable methods and sequence of operations.
    • Measure, inspect, and check fabricated and assembled components using precision instruments to ensure accuracy, clearance, and fit.
    • Set up cutting, shaping, and machining tools, as well as dies and other machine controls, according to job requirements.
    • Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of machines, equipment, and mechanical systems.
    • Troubleshoot machine faults, perform maintenance, and repair or overhaul mechanical components and fluid power equipment.
    • Maintain tools and equipment, ensure a clean and safe workshop environment, and work collaboratively within a small, skilled team.
    Applicants must have:
    • A relevant Certificate IV trade qualification with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, or at least 3 years of full-time experience working as a Fitter and Turner in lieu.
    • Strong experience with manual machining and fitting
    • Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
    • Experience in industrial or hydraulic repair work is an advantage
    • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
    • Be reliable, punctual, and safety conscious
