BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort offers a range of accommodation from tropical landscaped powered camp sites, ensuite sites, self-contained studios, and a purpose-built dormitory style accommodation for school groups.
Purpose of this role
The Landscape Gardener is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining high-quality landscaped environments across the resort. This role ensures all outdoor areas are visually appealing, functional, and aligned with the resort's standards to enhance guest experience.
Key Accountabilities:- Preparing garden beds, soil profiles, and planting sites to ensure suitable growing conditions across all landscaped areas.
- Establishing and maintaining lawns through turf laying or seeding, including levelling and spreading topsoil to achieve high-quality presentation standards.
- Contributing to the planning and layout of landscaped areas by interpreting designs, selecting appropriate materials and plant species, and organising work schedules for landscaping projects.
- Assisting in assessing irrigation needs and contributing to the design and setup of efficient watering systems across landscaped areas.
- Planting, nurturing, and maintaining trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and seasonal plantings in line with landscape design and resort aesthetics.
- Installing irrigation systems including pumps, valves, and metering equipment to support effective water management.
- Monitoring, testing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance with operational standards.
- Constructing and installing landscape features such as paved areas, retaining walls, fences, pergolas, trellises, outdoor furniture, and other structural elements.
- Installing and positioning both hardscape and softscape components in accordance with landscape plans and operational requirements.
- Safely handle, store, and apply gardening chemicals in accordance with safety data sheets and regulatory requirements, consistently using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly reporting any hazards, incidents, or safety concerns in line with workplace health and safety procedures.
Key Skills/Qualifications/Experience/Competencies required:- Formal Landscaping, Gardening or Horticultural qualification
- Sound knowledge and understanding of landscaping designs and principles
- Valid QLD driver's license
- Preferably at least 2 years' experience
- Ability to plan work and execute projects effectively
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task, organise, and prioritise work
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate inputs from others
- Ability to work to deadlines
A salary of $77,000 - $79,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
