We are seeking a skilled and motivated Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join Kangaroo Bus Lines. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality work on our bus fleet, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in buses using schematics and technical diagrams.
- Carry out routine and scheduled maintenance and repairs on company buses and associated fleet equipment as directed.
- Access on-board self-diagnostic systems in the engine control unit (ECU) and central processing unit (CPU), interpret test results, and identify faults.
- Ensure work is performed to comply with standards, appropriate Australian Design Rules (ADR) and Queensland Transport Authority regulation.
- Interpret service manuals and software to identify spare parts, and coordinate with the Mechanic in Charge for parts ordering and replacement.
- Perform routine duties in accordance with established and documented processes as required.
- Comply with all documented WH&S policies, procedures, work instructions, and verbal directions issued by Managers and Supervisors.
- Correctly use, maintain, and store personal protective clothing and equipment.
- Ensure work is performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Attend to out-of-hours breakdowns, bus retrievals, and emergency repairs when required.
Applicants must have a relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least three years of full-time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
Applicants will also have:- Knowledge of ADR standards and regulations applicable to heavy mechanical workshop plant and fleet.
- Knowledge of Volvo, Scania, Toyota, Mitsubishi, CAT, Cummins, Isuzu, and other heavy vehicle electronic diesel engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and apply time management principles to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and fostering strong working relationships in a friendly and flexible manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision while exercising initiative, judgement, and enthusiasm.
- Demonstrated commitment to WH&S.
- Good communication skills.
- Current Qld Bus Driver's Authority (preferred, not required)
A salary of $90,000 - $100,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
