Awadesh Bakery and Restaurant Pty Ltd is looking to fill a Chef vacancy in their team. The role will involve working 38 hours per week (with reasonable additional hours as required), based in Mount Tamborine, QLD 4272.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Plan and develop menus for the bakery and restaurant operation, including bakery products, breads, savoury items, and seasonal and specialty dishes
- Estimate food and labour costs, monitor portion sizes and food wastage, and contribute to the pricing of menu and bakery items
- Order and purchase food supplies, baking ingredients and kitchen consumables, and liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, quality and pricing
- Prepare, season, bake and cook food in accordance with menu specifications, dietary requirements and the establishment's standards
- Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking and baking procedures to other kitchen staff, and supervise the work of cooks, bakers, kitchen hands and apprentices
- Inspect food preparation, baking and service areas, cooking surfaces, utensils and equipment to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure compliance with the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Food Standards Code, HACCP principles, and applicable workplace health and safety legislation
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation, baking, plating, presentation and kitchen safety
- Manage kitchen rosters, allocate tasks during service, and coordinate the timing and quality of dishes leaving the kitchen
- Maintain stock levels, conduct regular stock takes, and minimise waste through effective inventory control
- Adapt recipes and dishes to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies and customer feedback
- Assist with recruitment, performance management and ongoing training of kitchen staff as required by the owner
Applicants must hold a relevant AQF Certificate IV or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery (or an equivalent overseas qualification), or alternatively have at least three years of relevant on-the-job training and experience as a Chef. In addition, applicants should have at least one year of post-qualification experience as a Chef in a comparable establishment. Sound knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene standards, strong communication, leadership and time-management skills are also required.
A salary of $77,000 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
