We are currently seeking a skilled and driven Sales Agronomist to join our Mareeba, Far North Queensland team full time.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Agronomic Advisory: Provide high-level agronomic advice and technical support to growers on various crops (e.g. avocados, mangoes, citrus, vegetables), helping optimize crop yield, health, and sustainability.
- Sales & Business Growth: Achieve regional sales, profit, and stock objectives by promoting our range of agricultural products and services. Implement agronomic programs (including fee-for-service offerings with clear return on investment) and identify opportunities to expand product penetration and the client base in the Mareeba/FNQ region.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, key customers, and industry partners, ensuring a consistently high level of customer service and client satisfaction. Act as a trusted advisor to growers, understanding their needs and providing solutions to improve their operations.
- Inventory & Compliance: Accurately forecast product demand and manage inventory levels. Adhere to stock control procedures and ensure compliance with safety and AgSafe standards for storage, transport, and handling of agricultural chemicals.
- Administration: Coordinate orders, logistics, and deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all administrative processes (ordering, processing, invoicing, and documentation). Contribute to effective branch administration and report on sales forecasts, expenses, and pricing as required.
- Team & Safety: Work collaboratively with the regional team and management, contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture. Uphold workplace health and safety by following and promoting safe work practices and demonstrate integrity and alignment with Muir Group's values in all activities.
Candidates must have:- Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticultural Science or a closely related discipline (Bachelor degree minimum) or 5 years relevant experience may substitute qualification.
- Minimum 1 years' experience in a commercial agronomy, sales agronomy or closely related role
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the agricultural industry and sound agronomic practices. Familiarity with tropical and subtropical cropping systems (horticulture in Far North Queensland) is highly regarded.
- Sales Skills: Proven sales and negotiation skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and the ability to understand and meet customer needs.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with growers and work effectively as part of a team.
- Organizational Skills: High level of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills to handle multiple clients and tasks efficiently.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency with information technology and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting, analysis, and record-keeping.
- Other: A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally as required (a company vehicle is provided for work use).
