At D Barnett & M.J Barnett t/a Riverway Meats, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Butcher to join our team in Queensland. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, trimming, cutting, and processing meat to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, and providing excellent customer service.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:- Prepare and process meat for sale by boning, trimming excess fat, cutting, and portioning meat products to ensure they meet customer requirements, quality standards, and business specifications.
- Mince, grind, tenderise, and prepare meat for retail display, further processing, or customer orders.
- Prepare value-added meat products by seasoning, marinating, coating, or otherwise processing selected cuts where required.
- Accurately weigh, package, label, and present meat products to ensure quality and compliance with business standards.
- Operate and maintain meat processing equipment, including mincing, slicing, grinding, and tenderising machines, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of meat products, rotate stock appropriately, and assist with inventory management to minimise waste.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe work environment in accordance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and company procedures.
- Provide customers with advice on meat cuts, preparation methods, cooking recommendations, and suitable product selections where required.
- Work effectively with team members to achieve daily production schedules, meet service expectations, and support efficient store operations.
Applicants must have:- A relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least three years of full-time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
- Proven experience as a qualified butcher in a retail or processing environment.
- Sound knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods, and food safety standards.
- Strong knife skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

A salary of $75,000 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful applicant.
