About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team on a full time basis. The successful applicant will assist with preparing and cooking a range of cafe style meals, breakfast and brunch items, lunch dishes, takeaway menu items, and seasonal specials. The role requires strong cooking skills, attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to work in a busy cafe kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare, cook and present a variety of café meals, breakfast items, brunch dishes, lunch items and takeaway menu items.
- Follow Drift Cafe recipes, preparation methods and plating standards to ensure consistency in taste, quality and presentation.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces, garnishes and food items before and during service.
- Operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens and other commercial cooking equipment safely and correctly.
- Monitor cooking times, food temperatures and portion control to maintain food quality and safety.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safe food handling.
- Support smooth kitchen service during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch periods.
- Assist with stock rotation, storage of ingredients and monitoring of kitchen supplies.
- Work with the kitchen and front of house team to ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
- Assist with seasonal specials and menu improvements under the direction of the business.
- Guide junior kitchen staff and kitchen hands where required.
Minimum Requirements:- At least 1 year previous experience as a cook in commercial kitchen environment.
- Qualification: Certificate IV in Kitchen Management/Commercial cookery
- Knowledge of food preparation, dietary requirements and allergen handling
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods.
