We are seeking a qualified and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic with strong skills in diagnostics, fault-finding, servicing, and mechanical repairs.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on a wide range of light vehicles and be confident using diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults. They should be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering quality service are essential.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:- Diagnose and identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults in light vehicles using specialised diagnostic equipment and manufacturer specifications to determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Perform scheduled servicing, logbook maintenance and preventative maintenance on a wide range of passenger, performance, classic and modified vehicles in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical components including engine parts, clutches, gearboxes,
differentials, braking components, suspension assemblies, steering systems, cooling systems and exhaust systems. - Inspect, dismantle, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, cooling and driveline systems, ensuring all components meet manufacturer and workshop quality standards.
- Conduct engine diagnostics, electronic fuel injection (EFI) repairs, engine management system testing and fault rectification using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
- Carry out engine overhauls, engine conversions and other mechanical upgrades for light vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with engineering and workshop specifications.
- Install and integrate performance components and aftermarket mechanical systems, including turbochargers, suspension upgrades and associated vehicle modifications while maintaining vehicle reliability and safety.
- Test, adjust and inspect repaired or serviced vehicles through workshop testing and road testing to verify performance, drivability and compliance with operational and safety requirements.
- Assist with custom vehicle builds by carrying out mechanical installation, fitting and assembly work in collaboration with fabrication and auto electrical teams.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical condition, identify repair requirements, provide accurate recommendations for additional maintenance where necessary, and maintain detailed service records in accordance with workshop procedures and regulatory requirements.
Applicants must have:- Relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least three years of full-time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
