    We're now looking for an experienced Machinist / Tradesperson to join our Machine Shop team in Kewdale.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced machinist who enjoys working with precision machinery, solving problems and being part of a highly skilled team.

    About the role

    As a Machinist at RMS, you'll play an important role in the refurbishment and regeneration of mechanical components, helping return critical components to optimal working condition.

    You'll work across a variety of machining and refurbishment projects, using both manual and CNC machinery and applying your trade skills to achieve high-quality, precise results.

    Your responsibilities will include:
    • Machining and refurbishment of engine and mechanical components
    • Setting up and operating manual and CNC machinery
    • Operating manual lathes and milling machines
    • Working to tight tolerances and engineering specifications
    • Interpreting technical drawings and specifications
    • Inspecting components and identifying defects or issues
    • Carrying out modifications and repairs to components where required
    • Maintaining and servicing machinery, tooling and equipment
    • Completing job reports and relevant production documentation
    • Troubleshooting machining and production issues
    • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S
    • Working safely and in accordance with RMS HSEQ procedures
    • Collaborating with supervisors, tradespeople, apprentices and trade assistants
    • Providing technical input and knowledge to support the wider team
    About you

    We're looking for a skilled and motivated tradesperson who takes pride in their work and has a strong mechanical and machining background.

    You will ideally have:
    • A relevant Trade Certificate, preferably Mechanical Engineering / Fitter Machinist
      Proven experience working in a trade or machining environment
    • Strong knowledge of engine components
    • Experience operating manual and/or CNC machinery
    • The ability to interpret technical drawings and access technical resources
    • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
    • Good time management and job-planning skills
    • The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
    • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
    • Good communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge with others
    Experience with vertical borers, CNC milling, Rottler machinery or Heidenhain, Mazatrol or Siemens controls would be advantageous, but is not essential.

    A Licence to Perform High Risk Work - Class DG would also be desirable but is not mandatory.
