    The Sales Estimator - Container Conversions is responsible for managing customer enquiries for modified and converted shipping containers from initial enquiry through to quotation, sales conversion and handover to production.

    This is a customer-facing role combining sales, technical scoping and estimating. The Sales Estimator will work directly with customers to understand their requirements, develop practical conversion solutions, accurately estimate project costs, prepare quotations and actively follow up on opportunities.

    The position requires a strong understanding of container construction and modification methods, together with the commercial ability to ensure projects are quoted competitively while maintaining appropriate margins for Phoenix Containers.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to quoting and securing the sale.
    • Work with customers to understand their requirements, budget and timeframe and develop practical container conversion solutions.
    • Provide advice on container types, sizes, layouts and modification options.
    • Prepare accurate cost estimates and professional quotations covering labour, materials, subcontractors and other project costs.
    • Develop clear project scopes, reviewing drawings, specifications and other technical information as required.
    • Source supplier and subcontractor pricing and work with production and management teams on technical requirements.
    • Set project pricing and margins in consultation with senior management, while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
    • Follow up quotations, negotiate pricing where appropriate and build strong relationships with new and existing customers.
    • Keep customer and quotation information up to date in the CRM.
    • Ensure successful projects are handed over to production with all relevant specifications, drawings, materials, delivery requirements and customer expectations clearly documented.
    • Review project outcomes and costs to improve future estimating and pricing accuracy.
    Requirements:
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Commercial and sales-focused mindset.
    • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into a clear scope of work.
    • Strong numerical and estimating ability.
    • High attention to detail.
    • Ability to read drawings, sketches and specifications.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Ability to prepare professional quotations and written scopes.
    • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and quotations simultaneously.
    • Confidence following up customers and closing sales.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with production and senior management.
    Desirable (not essential):
    • Experience estimating fabrication, construction, modular buildings, transportable buildings or container conversions.
    • Experience within the shipping container industry.
    • Fabrication or construction knowledge.
    • Ability to prepare basic concept drawings or layouts.
    • Experience with CRM systems.
    Salary will be negotiated based on the successful candidate's experience, capabilities and skill set.
