Pure Desi Retailing Pty Ltd (trading as Pure Desi Kellyville) is a busy retail store in a Kellyville shopping strip, selling Indian sweets, snacks and gift boxes in store and online.
They are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to organise and control the operations of the store and lead the store team. A background in food retail, sweets, bakery or grocery is preferred, and familiarity with Indian sweets and food products is an advantage.
You will be working 38 hours per week, rostered across the store's seven-day trading week, including weekends, public holidays and peak festival periods.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Organise and control the overall operations of the store, reporting to the director on sales, costs and performance.
- Determine the store's product mix across sweets, snacks, gift boxes and seasonal lines, based on sales data and customer demand.
- Set stock levels for fresh and packaged products to meet demand and minimise wastage.
- Establish and maintain customer service standards for in-store, phone and online orders, including standards for store presentation.
- Formulate and implement purchasing policies, including supplier selection, ordering frequency and quality checks on deliveries.
- Formulate and implement marketing policies, and set and review retail prices against costs, margins and local competition.
- Promote and advertise the store's products, including festival campaigns (such as Diwali, Eid and Raksha Bandhan), in-store promotions, digital signage and social media.
- Sell products to customers and advise them on product selection, ingredients, allergens, shelf life and storage, including bulk and catering orders.
- Maintain records of stock levels, stocktakes, wastage and financial transactions, including daily sales and online platform sales.
- Prepare and manage the store budget, monitoring sales targets, labour costs and operating expenses.
- Control the selection, induction, training and supervision of staff, including setting staffing levels and managing staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with work health and safety and food safety legislation, implementing and monitoring safety and hygiene procedures in the store.
Applicants must have:- Diploma or higher qualification in retail management, business or a related field (or equivalent overseas qualification), or at least three years of relevant experience in place of the formal qualification.
- Minimum one year of paid work experience as a Retail Manager or in a similar retail management role, preferably in food retail.
- Demonstrated experience in stock control, purchasing, budgeting and staff supervision.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and work health and safety requirements in a food retail setting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, and confidence using point-of-sale and online ordering systems.
- Ability to work a flexible roster, including weekends, public holidays and peak festival periods.
